The West Malling Airfield Memorial was manufactured by Burlite Limited, Maidstone. It consists of four polished black granite panels, two metres high and one metre wide. Each panel weighs over one tonne. The first panel features the insignia of the RAF and that of RAF West Malling.

Panels two and three provide information on the operational duties of the station together with pictures of war time and post war aircraft which were operated from the airfield as well as interesting anecdotes now "preserved in stone". The fourth panel depicts the first and last aircraft to serve at the station, namely a Westland Lysander and a Gloster Javelin. In front of the bronze statue of the running Airman by Kate Denton is a plaque detailing the insignia of the main-stay Squadrons who served at the station.
